The Journey to Freedom Program
The homeless who struggle with recovery need not only the right information, but also a safe place to process and apply that information.  It is for this reason that The Source has adapted the 'Journey To Freedom' program and will open The Life Recovery Center as a recovery program for the homeless who are trying to make the transition from dysfunction to a life of freedom, in all respects.

Curriculum

The curriculum for the 'Journey To Freedom' program is a combination of the 12 steps of Alcoholic Anonymous, the Alpha Series, and the Relational Ministry series.  Weekly classes are reinforced by weekly processing groups, allowing for more discussion of the topics and principles taught in the classes.

Admission Criteria

To be accepted into the 'Journey To Freedom' program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A referral from CRC (Counseling Recovery Center - DCF).
  • Completion of an intake form, a personal interview, and a background check.  Convicted sexual offenders, predators, and those with a history of violent crimes are considered unsuitable for admission to the LRC.
  • A willingness to commit himself/herself to the program.

Program Information

Residents who are accepted into the 'Journey To Freedom' program will spend from 90 days to nine months working the program at The Life Recovery Center facility.  During the first month they will be given daily work assignments.  This period is also used to further assess the resident’s commitment to recovery.  There is no cost to the residents for this first month.  During the first month, all residents are required to find employment that will not interfere with the schedule of classes, groups, and meetings.  The suggested donation to the program is $135.00 per week for each person, payable each Friday evening.  A failure to seek permanent employment, meet their financial obligations on time, and/or refusal to work in the ministry during the resident’s first month in the program, may result in immediate dismissal from the program.
