• The vision for The Source was born at a small Bible study home group in 1992.
• The primary mission was to minister the love of God to the homeless.
• The idea was to attract the attention of the homeless with a free meal and present them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, offering true hope for a better future.
• The Source first operated out of a 600 sq. ft. storefront in Osceola Plaza.
• They were open 10am to 3pm; offering coffee, lunch, cool drink and the Word of God.
• The Source was incorporated as I AM Ministries, Inc. in 1995 and registered with the IRS as a 501c3 organization. • Tom and Gaye King began volunteering at The Source in 1999. Tom became the Executive Director and Gaye assumed the role of Facility Administrator in 2001.
• The Source moved through three additional rental units before purchasing our current 5,000 sq. ft. outreach facility in 2005. (Opened Christmas Day 2004) • The Source, now located at 1015 Commerce Avenue, has grown into a full-fledged assistance center for the homeless and near-homeless. We are open six days a week, including Saturday and Sunday. • The Source purchased our second piece of property in the summer of 2006 with the intentions of opening a transitional living facility called the Life Recovery Center. We have since been engaged in a legal struggle for the right to use these grounds to house and rehabilitate the homeless. • The Source opened the Heaven Sent Thrift Shoppe just in time for Christmas 2007. The thrift store provides and additional source of revenue for the ministry while offering discount shopping for the conscientious consumer.
• Our primary mission remains the same: To present the Gospel to those who are homeless, indigent or in critical need; to lead them to a saving faith in Jesus Christ; to instill hope and motivation for improving their lives; and to assist them in obtaining the resources necessary to become productive citizens and achieve lasting life recovery.
