Members of our team attend a symposium in Austin, Texas

At The Source, we are deeply committed to addressing homelessness and believe training our staff is essential to achieving this goal. Last month, several team members had the unique and privileged opportunity to attend the Mobile Loaves & Fishes / Community First Village’s (MLF) annual Symposium for Goodness Sake in Austin, Texas. The symposium offered customized sessions for faith partners, churches, ministries, and church planters. It provided in-depth insights into the work of Mobile Loaves & Fishes and Community First Village, including presentations, interactive talks and panels, and an extensive tour of the Village. The MLF team and featured guest speakers shared over two and a half decades’ worth of experience and insight on topics such as organizational culture, biblical foundations, leadership, community outreach, and neighbor care.

The impact of the symposium on our team’s commitment to addressing homelessness was profound. Our Development Director, Jonathan Orozco, was particularly inspired by the experience. He shared, “The strategic creation of beautiful spaces for their neighbors to simply be is truly remarkable. It’s inspiring to be among such a group of leaders and learn from one of the best ministries in the nation. While we may not be able to replicate every aspect, we can certainly implement some of the learnings immediately back home.” This sentiment is echoed by the entire team, reinforcing our dedication to our cause.
