The Indian River Community Foundation Awards The Source $20,000
Thanks to The Indian River Community Foundation (IRCF), The Source has been generously awarded $20,000 to support the Dining with Dignity program which provides a vital source of wholesome meals to those experiencing homelessness, financial distress, or life crisis. Dining with Dignity stands as a pillar of hope, alleviating the daily burdens of the disadvantaged. The organization’s goal is to offer food and a sense of community and inclusion. Last year, The Source distributed nearly 40,000 complimentary meals, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to making a difference in this area of need.
Dining with Dignity also offers unique culinary training to individuals who need a second chance to get back on their feet in a dignified fashion. This program empowers individuals by giving them the skills and education to transform their lives, move from despair to productivity, and pave their way to a brighter future. To qualify, prospective students must follow a series of steps via programs for up to 18 weeks of classroom/hands-on kitchen training to ensure that the program is accessible to those in need and provides a clear path to success. Upon graduation, the Source member will receive job placement, a uniform along with non-slip shoes, employment, possibly a new Dignity Smile (if qualified), housing and a bonus after 3 months of continued employment.
Indian River Community Foundation’s discretionary grant-making is aligned with a vision of a more healthy, prosperous, and generous Indian River County community. Grant-making priorities are informed by the findings of the most recent community needs assessment and the most current data and information collected on Indian River Indicators. IRCF is holding informational sessions for nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organizations serving Indian River County who are interested in applying for a competitive grant. If interested, please call 772-492-1407 or email Brooke Sauserman: Brooke@ircommunityfoundation.org to reserve your spot. Please read their Guidelines before registering.
